The Subterranean Flow of Parama Purusha
Many different experiences occur in human life. Some are very pleasing. Some meet your needs and desires and some may be very, very difficult and even go against your fundamental needs. This happens because in this universe of form, all things are ever-changing. There is no right and wrong to it. It just goes on changing. In the great dance of creation, forms rise and fall and still it goes on changing. Rising and falling, the surface of creation is always in movement. When one lives upon the surface sometimes the movements further your development, sometimes they are destructive to your development. Still they go on moving, changing.
Underneath this surface of continual turmoil and movement, some of it bright, some of it most difficult, just under the surface there is a subterranean stream, a subterranean flow. In this subterranean flow there is great stillness, great peace. In this subterranean flow, all movement is in one direction. On the surface of life, movement goes in many directions. One goes this way, another that way and another comes from the side. Movements come and go in all directions and sometimes they clash. However, in the subterranean flow, beneath the surface of ever-changing forms, lies a movement of harmony going in one direction. There is no conflict, no clash. It moves in one direction only and that is towardsParama Purusha. This subterranean flow of your existence moves solely towards Parama Purusha.
All consciousness, all existence is ever being drawn to the cosmic nucleus. Purushottama is the center of the universe, the supreme nucleus drawing all the living beings to him. This subterranean river has a singular direction. It flows towards Parama Purusha with great harmony and peace. This subterranean flow is the movement of dharma. Naturally, the subterranean flow is affecting even the surface waves, clashing, rising and falling in all directions. Still the living beings sense there is something beneath, a movement, a flow, a destiny beyond the normal ken of day-to-day life, a destiny is in harmony with one’s innermost being, with the inner calling of one’s heart. This destiny is your meeting place with the supreme entity. Each and every one has this destiny and sooner or later the calling from within will become so great that you will walk the inner road home to meet your Lord face to face, to find what you have lost.
There are so many legends and stories where one is searching for the sacred chalice, the key to the philosopher’s stone, the secret alchemical ingredient to obtain the elixir of life. There are so many legends, stories and allegories all pointing to this inner journey to attain reunion with one’s inner destiny. You feel within that you have a calling, a purpose to your life greater than anything ordinary, greater than anything superficial. It is indeed a calling from the core of your heart, a deep internal movement designed to bring you home again to your inner dwelling place where the boundary of "I" and "mine" dissolves in the ocean of endless grace. This inner calling beckons you to the road less traveled, to the subterranean flow of your innermost existence. There all your self-definitions become irrelevant. There all your accomplishments and defeats are insignificant. There all of the faces you maintain for others are set aside and you stand face to face with the truth of your own being. You feel the movement, the pull, the call to the deepest realms, to the arcane knowledge.
Should you put your feet upon this path, should you sink beneath the turmoil of form and color and ride the inner deep currents of your existence you will follow the path of dharma. It will take you to the further shore. It will take you to the abode of the supreme. It will take you beyond the experience of ‘I" and "mine," beyond all definitions, beyond all beliefs, beyond all boundaries you have set in your mind, to the direct experience, to your home of homes, to the arms of love, the shores of beatitude. Take time for this most noble pursuit. Each and every one of you is a child of the supreme. Each and every one of you is dear to him. His love for you is unconditional. All you need do is to sink beneath the surface and ride the currents of that deep and peaceful subterranean flow beyond the shores of ego to the beatitude of his abode. This is the purpose of sadhana, to give you some opportunity, some tool to help you dive deep and find the current. This is why you do sadhana, is it not?
