Divinity is Omnipresent
Divinity is omnipresent. You can not go anywhere to be away from the divine. Each and every one of you carries that divinity within you. It is both within you and outside of you. It permeates all that is. Purushais like the clay from which Prakrti forms all creation. Within the play of creation, endless forms arise, live for a time, and pass away. That of which they are composed, of which each and everyone of you is composed, is timeless, immortal, deathless eternal being. You can look to appearances and you will see "I" and "Thou." When you look to appearances, you see the many.
The mind, steeped in ignorance, sees form, sees the impermanent as permanent, the material as solid, sees being as ephemeral and elusive. That which is transitory, that which is only appearance that has no eternal nature, that which is relative, is seen as eternal, permanent. Thus, taking the impermanent for permanent, the untruth for truth, the unreal for reality, the mind becomes engaged in endless suffering. The thrust of human life becomes achievement in the world of form. Seeing always duality, "I" and "Thou," seeing oneself apart from all else, one enters into a situation bound to cause suffering.
The separate existence cannot last eternally. That which is impermanent, this body and mind arise bound by time and space. They will fall away and have no permanent place in the halls of eternity. Thus when one’s identity merges in physical structure, in mental structure, in one’s beliefs, opinions, one’s accomplishments, then one experiences suffering because all these depend on time and space. They have no eternal nature. If through deep inquiry, deep reflection, one comes to perceive the eternal being, the changeless essence out of which each and every living being and all objects animate and inanimate are composed ‑ once one perceives this eternal nature ‑ one begins to realize, "My welfare lies not in my accomplishments in this world. My welfare lies not in identity with body, personality, or beliefs but with the eternal Self." Until and unless one learns to perceive the eternal nature of being, one lives in ignorance and this ignorance is bound to cause pain.
So, Lord Krishna, in the battlefield with Arjuna taught him surrender. Surrender every concept, idea, belief and everything you thought to be your own. It is very easy to surrender certain things, "Yes, Lord, I will surrender my ego; my material wealth, all of these things." You may surrender a great deal. Can you surrender your very personal opinions of yourself? Can you surrender your inferiority feelings, superiority feelings, pride of intellect, pride of accomplishment, identity with the results of your actions, your very essential beliefs about who you are and what you are? Can you surrender those? Can you let them go? Can you put them at the feet of Lord and say, "I am not!" Can you become one with him? Letting go of all that you have thought you are, surrendering everything to him, embrace him let his view be your view. In his view there is only one, not many, there is only one eternal unchanging undying being, one love, one truth, one essence. All are a part of that one and that one is in all.
Surrender everything to him, all that you have cried for, all that you believe about yourself, let go even of the thought of this very body you inhabit, realizing it is composed of him. Even the mind comes from him, lies within him, is composed of him. As the vase is composed of the clay, so you are composed of Purusha. That most beloved composes every particle of this universe. There is nothing outside of him. That most beloved composes your mind, your thoughts, body, the person next to you, the bird, the wind, the objects, all are composed of him. What have you that is not his? Everything, all that you possess, comes from him, is composed of him, and returns to him.
Where are you to go to be away from him? The only way to be away from him is to deceive yourself regarding the nature of reality. The only way to be away from him is to pretend it is different than this. Really speaking, you go nowhere, but the mind, steeped in ignorance, does not recognize the beloved all around. The mind, steeped in ignorance perceives only acquisition and loss, living in fear and grasping. When the mind returns to its senses, to reality, realizing that what you are you have always been, eternal being, all that you think you possess is only of him, eternal being. What you achieve is his achievement. Those you find yourself separate from are not other than your very beloved. He walks in thousands, millions, billions of forms. He speaks with endless voices. He rises in manifestation and dissolves again.
So do not waste this precious human life, this precious time you have in false notions and ignorance. Do not spend your precious human life grasping after impermanence and suffering. Instead, turn around, turn to him, perceive him, know him, and let your heart fill with his endless love. Let your mind perceive only him and realize the eternal nature of your being. This is your opportunity here and now in this life. Take full advantage of this opportunity. When ignorance comes in the mind, return it to him once again.
There are so many scriptures, different beliefs and different ideas. Intellectuals can argue endlessly about their philosophies and beliefs but you be practical people. You don’t need to argue about beliefs. Rather you need to take action. You need to put your beliefs to work. Recognize your essential nature. Recognize your being in him. Surrender all that you have held dear and let nothing stand between you and your divine beloved. This is my advice to all of you. Do not waste your time with intellectual philosophies. Rather put it into practice.
